This verse is one from DC Born’s study of Paul’s letters on the theme of reconciliation. The study will be talking about this verse this week. You are invited to use it as a source of meditation as well and to pray together with others about reconciliation in our life together and in the world.
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation….so we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
1 Corinthians 5: 18, 20
Questions for meditation this week:
Reconciliation is an opportunity to rebuild a relationship. What relationships come to mind when you think of reconciliation?
The writer, Paul, wants us to see that God has done the first and most important reconciliation. What difference does that make?
What would a “ministry of reconciliation” look like to you? Can you see yourself there?
What does it mean to be ‘an ambassador for Christ?’ How does that make you feel?
Prayer for this week
Precious Father, I am so grateful that you have called me into a relationship with you, and that you have made it possible for me to know and love you. May the love of Jesus enable me to reach out to those you love and to be reconciled to you and to others. Amen.
