Each year on the second Sunday of September, Congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America join in service across the US. Most congregations are already engaged in service through out their communities, but on this day we celebrate our commission to be the hands of God in the world.
This year Our Savior’s brought cookies to our home bound members and the Sheriff’s Office, the Police Department, the ER and the Fire department. We weeded and chipped the paths of an overgrown community garden, stocked our pantry for a new Food for Kids program that sends food home on the weekends for hungry kids, tied fleece blankets to donate to the Department of Human Services.
Then we gathered for hamburgers and brats on our patio, cooked by our Property & Grounds guys. A great time was had by all.
