What a wonderful day. I was so proud to see two young women who had been studying their tradition and examining their own call to faith step forward in the assembly of their congregation and declare their baptismal understanding for themselves. We will celebrate again in October when another young woman will step forward with her own statement of faith and vow to live among us a an adult Christian.
We welcomed the baby brother of one of our young women as well. Baptisms always overwhelm me and bring tears to my heart. I don’t get to cry now that I am the pastor. What a gift it is to be able to be part of family’s commitment to bring their children to Jesus, and what joy to be present as babies and young people cross the threshold into claiming their identity as God’s children.
