When you listen to the BBC at night, you catch the morning news in Europe and Africa. You hear about the bloody wars between factions and Islamists and tyrants who won’t let go of power even when democratic elections elect their rivals. It makes me so grateful to live in a place where the voice of the people is heard through free and fair elections and the quiet transfer of power is assumed. I am proud to do my civic duty and cast a ballot. I am grateful that I live in a country where you don’t die for disagreeing with people in power. What a blessing. Thank you, God, for the land of the free and the home of the brave.
