On October 29, 5 Confirmation students, two parents and the pastor worked on rehabbing a house for Habitat for Humanity. This house was a disaster after being foreclosed and left empty, but Habitat volunteers have repaired, repainted, scrubbed and relandscaped it until it is ready for new occupants in mid-December.That’s Phil in the background, the on-site supervisor the day we were there.
Kylie Rasmussen and Pastor scrubbed the kitchen, Cheri Rasmussen scrubbed a bathroom, Sandee Griggs scrubbed a second bathroom, Connor Chaney and Jacob Cook painted back and side-door frames, Cameron Griggs and Trevor Rasmussen painted shelves and closet doors and installed them.
Everyone helped with weeding and yard clean up and final cleaning of the living room. We were able to contribute a small part to the joy of a family that will celebrate its first Christmas in a home of their own this year. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to something so important.
